The SAF Boys’ School offered military, technical and academic training to students between the ages of 14 and 16. During their two-year residential programme, students were given a monthly allowance, and upon graduation, served six years in the military as tradesmen or combat non-commissioned officers. It closed down in 1984 as less academically inclined students could study in technical and vocational institutions instead.
