Golden Mile Coffee House opened in 1971, offering a blend of eastern and western cuisine. Besides European continental, it also specialised in Indonesian nasi padang and kueh. It promised a waterfront view from the second floor of Golden Mile Shopping Complex.
The business's managing director was Yee Nee Seck, a contractor by profession. He also had a coffee-house business in Borneo. He was joined by Ng Liang Hai and Ng Cheng Hai, who were in the import-export business dealing with food stuffs.
