A marriage of the initials 'T' and 'P' to look like a crane. This harks back to when Singapore and Tanjong Pagar's was "liberated" by Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew who first stood for election in this constituency. The symbol of a bird associates with the freedom Singaporeans enjoy in the democratic and how the country is continually "going places". Besides being a species accepted by all 4 of Singapore's races, the crane also has longer legs than other birds. Finally, red was chosen as the colour as it is auspicious and symbolise fraternity.
