The company was joint venture between Inchcape and Swedish security protection companies, Tele Larm and ABAB. It was known for introducing the use of electronic devices, offering a APRO Beat Alarm System that could be programmed to trigger a series of alarms.

In 1991 and 2008, the firm underwent changes in ownership and is now a fully Singapore-owned company. Its logo has also been changed although its basic A-shape remains.
