The Substation was Singapore's first independent contemporary arts centre founded in 1990 by Kuo Pao Kun. Its name came from the fact that it was located inside a former 1920s power sub-station along Armenian Street which had become disused until Kuo sent in a proposal to converted it into an arts centre.
This was the January/February issue of a bimonthly published by the arts centre that featured reports and reviews of its events. It was redesigned to mark The Substation's 10th anniversary.
